    Community service.

Hehe..Now the other day, I was doing some proof reading for the school magazine, of which certain persons are proud of being part of the committee. Just so you know, there is nothing glamorous about being in the magazine committee [I didn't even go for the phototaking session, lol], especially if you are a SPM candidate and missed Physics period just to do some typing, copying and arranging of articles.

Proof reading is even harder, especially if you have to go through every article one by one, correcting and rephrasing what people, IMO, meant to say. Trust me, you won't be interested in helping the future "diamonds" of SMKJA to polish up their articles so that outsiders have a better impression of our school and its standard. It took me a tedious 3 hours and a half, if I'm not mistaken, of community service. Not to mention two parents making me swallow my arguments on the fact I do not have time to study...because I obviously have the time to proof read articles.  Really threw my water bucket face (buang air muka). I hate losing arguments. Good heart no good hug. Wait, not that hug, no reward, paiseh. Hehe.

Oh yeah and for those who were wondering and dreading the moment I take examples from the originally submitted articles to illustrate my stand, you don't have to worry, I'm not that cruel. I'm nice.

Anyway, this brought to mind an article I found somewhere, so sit back and enjoy the rantings about the English language. =)

    The English Language

We'll begin with a box, and the plural is boxes,
but the plural of ox became oxen not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.

If the plural of man is always called men,
why shouldn't the plural of pan be called pen?
If I spoke of my foot and show you my feet,
and I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?

If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
why shouldn't the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that, and three would be those,
yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
and the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
but though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
but imagine the feminine, she, shis and shim.

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
    There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England.
    We take English for granted.
But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly,

boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing,
grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
Sometimes I think all the folks who grew up speaking English
should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane.
In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?

We ship by truck but send cargo by ship.
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language
in which your house can burn up as it burns down,
in which you fill in a form by filling it out,
and in which an alarm goes off by going on.
So if Father is Pop, how come Mother isn't Mop

And that is just the beginning - even though this is the end.

    August 24

Half asleep. half awake. Half dead.

    AHhhhh...bzbzbzbz....

And you wud have tot the hol wud be the perfect chance for this sadly overworked young lady to relax..yes I know you guys sympathize me...lol.  Si ai bin.

Lemme just start by saying the hol started with the ISCF camp. Nono...my "holiday" started ONE WEEK before the camp, u noe, practice, practice and practice. But I did benefit frm the fact I was forced to learn how to play by chords..hehe...at least being in the worship team was motivation enuf. (Psst, just discovered others who are grade 5 and above still don't know how to TOO...my confidence is back half force. Yes, getting to know Roy has drained all the confidence I have in my musical abilities [wic in comparison, does NOT even exist])

So I'm back now, and my sej textbook hasnt been entertained...it's just sitting on the table willing me to open it and study. I just realized HOW hard it is to study again after not studying for two weeks plus. Back on Wed. Thurs, Sunday worship practice...yes, today. Just a mere 9 hours ago. Yes. No afternoon nap. Those of u who know me know my afternoon nap is as important as studying to me. And right after practice, I cudnt sleep on account of the iced tea I had earlier for lunch. *sigh*

Being the stubborn me that I am, I still decided to go shoPping tonite with my mum. You dont have to be super smart to guess how wiped out I am now.

Taking into account the fact I might be going for the SUEA international youth camp talk tomoro nite..Another practice scheduled for Sat and the international youth rally on Sat AS well..let's just say this holiday isn't much of a hol for me.

Maybe I'll give my reference books a rest. It's not like I have a choice anyway.

    Giving vent to certain stuff.

Oh man oh man oh man....

The idea of an ideal holiday just flew out of the window a few weeks ago. Yes, at least I've prepared for that a few weeks ago. -_-'

A whirlwind of activity these few days, I havent been able to relax at all..unless you count the 10 hours of sleep per day, the half an hour of quiet time....you get the idea. It's been practice, practice and practice for the ISCF camp since the exam was over.

Ah lets switch to a more pleasant topic. The exam. Lol, deranged idea of a pleasant topic, right? But anyway, I'm feeling good about my purata.......and the fact that there's no PM or PS or PJK to drag it down. It's a nicely rounded 90.42 now....THAT BC ISNT BACK YET! Worst case scenario oso isnt THAT bad larrrrr, considering the lowest I can get is about...60? Then my purata would probably be somewhere around....86. I'm so so so so so peeved. It'd be nice to have a purata as high as 90 for once.

Ah, now I'm a little more relaxed. At least I can compete with those who DO NOT take BC....in other schools. Hehe. No matter how hard I try to stop competing, it's an inborn instinct. Wonder if it's genetically inherited.

May : Hey dad, how come I'm so kiasu? Were you like that last time?
Dad : Nah, I was contented to be in the top ten. Others were really too good, no point competing. I mean, the no 1 in my class got A1 for BC, BI and Bm in the SPM bor. Don't nid to compete lah, less stress.

(There goes my hypothesis. I should go ask my mum sometime soon)
(or mayb I'll just blame it on my being the middle child. You know, the stress of having to measure up to my koko.)

Note to self : It's always easier to blame others. *snicker*

    Exam fever

Yes, you've heard of football fever, gold fever and dengue fever, but have you heard of exam fever?

I had it. Literally. I had a fever during the exam on Thursday. No wonder I felt so lousy, but I thought that was on account of the fact that my dog kept me awake the night before (yes Lara, I havent forgiven you for that. U_u), waking me up at 12am to come into my room and not allowing me to sleep until 5 am. Good doggy. GRrrrr.

Anyway it was really a fever, not just some lack of sleep. To me, it's God's way of letting me know that in all things, I do it by His strength, not mine. A bit of humble pie at the right time does help to keep me in check. I mean, I am blessed! I did know that without His help, I wudnt be able to make it, so I prayed extra hard these few days. If you don't believe me, check out these facts below:

    During my fever:
    i) Can you explain how I managed to get the definition of Menstruation correct even tho i didnt know what the exact definition was? All I did was explain what processes were involved. I came home and checked the reference book and voila, my answer was almost exactly the same as the jawapan skema. Hallelujah!
(note to reader: I do not expect you to explain. There was no way I did that by myself. Simple solution, God was [and is] behind me all the way.)

    Day after fever:
ii) For maths, there was one question in paper 1 that I was sure had something wrong with the question itself. Not bothering to even look at the answer I circled, I answered it, cocksure that that question was going to be a bonus question. Turns out that it HAD an answer, and miraculously, I selected the CORRECT ONE!

There are many other signs, and I wont talk about them YET because they are not totally confirmed, but when they are confirmed, and I actually tell u guys, you'd be amazed at how much honoring God can bring about blessings. Not that I honour Him because I want blessings......

Just look and see, GOd is alive, and He is moving throughout our lives every single day! He knows our deepest desires (yeah, mine was to do well) and He just awes me over and over with His great love and mercy. God is good!

    Shake the Planet!

Aaaannnnnddddddddd..........announcing the hottest event in town..........the upcoming Planetshakers concert!

How often is it that we actually get to go to live concerts? Scratch that, if you actually get to go to a concert, it's nothing but Live anymore. *sigh*. Not only is my English going down the drain (this expression gotten frm Km), my logic is slowly dispersing into nothingness. The black hole of rationality. Is there even such a word? <--- Proves the point that my BI is deteriorating.

Anyway back to the topic.... Seriously guys, if you've never heard of Planetshakers, you've been living a way too sheltered life. No fear, your chance is here! Tickets are priced at RM 5 each and you can get them frm Me, Me or Me. *heheh, sales technique?*
Okayla, don wanna give u guys a hard time.. Amy, Alvin, Melody, Samuel and I. It's gonna be held at ACS, which is across the road from my church, which happens to be KEC, which happens to have the coolest youth, which……Let’s get back to the original topic.

It’s not like I didn’t circulate notices around all the classes, riiight? Well, just fyi, we have 50 tickets to go around, and we’re trying to get it done a.s.a.p. So guys, it’s kind of a first come first serve thing…and the early bird gets the worm, and so on and so forth.

For all ya fans of God and love to praise Him, it's a one of a kind, once in a year opportunity you can't miss...It's gonna be cool!

P.s It's not cool because I say so, or because it is the event of the year, but for the simple fact that praising God is cool!

    August 01

    Firsts.

This is the first time I've become an object of controversy.

Yes, the complacent, "whatever" me has become an object of controversy.

    *mock sigh*

    And it's about physical features.

    *sigh*

    My hair.

(and for the first time in history, I actually care.)
