The Joy of Post-SPM wife. I mean, life.

Today, Amy came over to spend some quality time with me. Waseh. =P

Actually, I invited her over to watch a movie of her choice using my laptop. But she was "too lazy" to watch the movie, so we ended up chit-chatting instead while I hustled and bustled around the house doing housechores. What? I can multitask! xD

Anyone who complains that his/her post-SPM holiday is boring plainly doesn't have enough housechores to do or enough books to read. Trust me. You don't even have to find an outside job to ward off the boredom if you do daily housekeeping. Now I understand how a mother's work never ends, and how her mind can work 25 hours a day. I think I'm adapting pretty well to post-SPM life, and here's the proof :

Amy : You give me the sense of being a housewife.

Well, I don't mind, not at all. It's nice to do menial tasks for a change, and stimulate my mind with challenges like what ingredients to put into dishes so that they taste delicious. After all, I don't suppose I'll be doing much of that once I start tertiary education or even Form 6. Better enjoy the wife of a houselife. =P

On another note, I passed my driving test. Not with flying colours, I'm afraid, but I passed it nonetheless. God is full of grace. =) Now my main concern is being a safe driver so that the accident rate in Kuching won't shoot skyhigh once I hit the roads [note to reader : I still desire speed, but I'm altruistic like that, haha]. Can't wait to get my P-license! =D Guess I'll end this post with a song.

"How wonderful, how marvelous, and my song shall ever be; How wonderful, how marvelous, automatic gear for me!"

Colourful Conversations.

1st Scenario

May : What colour is this? *points to a pile of clothing in a departmental store*
Jwern : Blue.
May : Okay, what colour is that? *points to another pile*
Jwern : Red.
May : Right. How about this?
Jwern : Gray.
May : Nope, that's green.

2nd Scenario

May : What colour is this shirt?
Jwern : Green.
May : No, it's purple.
Jwern : NO WAY. That's green!
May : Haha, I was just kidding. That's green.
Jwern : *still dazed* I was about to believe you.

3rd Scenario

May : So, do you know what are the colours on a traffic light?
Jwern : *shooting me a very meaningful look* Blue. Purple.
May : And black.
Jwern : Yeah, and black.

Colour-blind people can be so funny. XD

On another random note, I cooked tomato chicken for lunch today. SUCCESSFULLY, this time. xD It didn't mutate into fried chicken, like what happened yesterday. The things they can do with Genetic Engineering nowadays. =P *shakes head mournfully*

Okay, fine, the fried chicken thing was my own fault - I misinterpreted mum's instructions and ended up marinating the chicken instead of mixing the sauces in water. xD

Next topic.

Does anyone wanna know how my Valentine's Day went? No one? Ah well, guessed so. =P Okay then, I'll be off now! Ciao, people.

Wait, I just remembered. I want to know exactly what it is that guys find so complicated about girls. Throw out your questions in the form of comments, so I know exactly why females are deemed impossible to understand. Haha.

There he goes.

Come February 14th, no longer will I hear off-key renditions of songs too tuneless to identify accompanied by resounding footsteps on the parquet floor coming from upstairs. The house will be strangely silent without the loud enthusiasm, sarcastic jokes and friendly (or sometimes not SO friendly) banter between the three 'lawyers', as my dad calls us siblings in the family. My sister would probably rejoice in her new-found freedom - now she can use the computer for as long as she wants without fear of being reprimanded.

Because one lawyer (the one who always wins even though Paris IS in France) will be leaving us.

To my one and only brother,

I grew up together with you, and watched you change from a young kid to a young adult. One of my earliest memories is my complaining to mum because you constantly kissed me to irritate me. When I asked you to justify your actions years later, you said, "You were so FAT. I didn't know what else to do with all that FAT!"

Don't worry, ko, I'm a very forgiving person. =P

I recall wrestling with you and tickling matches (in which you undoubtedly had the upper hand in) when we were both younger. Then when Rene came along, she became the new target. I idolized you in those days. Who else had such a handsome, charismatic, enigmatic brother? Not anyone I knew, that's for sure. =) Your classmates would report to me that you were sot, but I didn't mind. I knew they didn't mean it in a bad way.

Then we grew distant as you reached adolescence. Academically, I treated you as a rival and strove to do better. I managed to, at least in public exams where Chinese came into consideration. xD Until you reached Form 4, and dropped Mandarin. Seeing the way you scored in Add Maths and Physics, I acknowledged that you were the smarter kid. I always knew that, actually, so I tried to be an all-rounder. Hey, you can't compare when you're good in different things, right? =P

The older you got, the more considerate you became. In camps we attended together, I will always remember you as my carbon pill supplier and saviour. =P I'm stupid like that, not knowing how to take care of myself. For all your gruffness, you are rather protective of your own kin. You definitely live up to your name, Ray. The Protector. I probably won't ever take care of Rene as well as you took care of me. The absurdly perfect standards you set for fulfilling house chores are also incredible. Cham liao when I have to take over your chores. xP It's all your fault.

I'll miss your barging into my room to admire yourself in front of my full-length mirror and incessant assessments of your physique. As you said, "I'm not arrogant, May may. It just makes people laugh to see me act like this." I'll also miss your reminding me to put on my seatbelt every time we go out for lunch. And hearing reports from all over regarding your newest female fan group (they seem to change so very often, and increase drastically in numbers, huh? I only have 5% of your luck. *sigh*). I truly envy the knack you have for making others laugh spontaneously. You've never joined a public speaking competition, but if you ever did, you'd probably have everyone in stitches just like THAT.

I will also never forget how you called me "May may" in front of my classmates the way you usually do at home, and that name stuck. It's a coincidence that "May may" sounds exactly the same as "mei mei" which means "little sister" in mandarin. Hmm.

I'll miss you - even if I won't tell you so. =P

Need for Speed Too.

I find third gear awfully restraining. I don't like the fact that I have to drive between 40-50 km/h in order to be considered a safe driver. I find it absurd to maintain the speed at 40-50 km/h when there are no cars for at least 50 meters in front of me ('cause it makes me look retarded, okay? =P). I love the feel of fourth gear, and long to hear the word "Faster" from my instructor. I have a need for speed. Not a good sign, right? xD

I think I'm going to be a dangerous driver after I get my license. *evil grin* The first few times I went driving on the road, my instructor already had to tell me to slow down. Muehehehehehehe. By the way, this bad gene ALSO runs in the family, so don't blame me, blame my mummy. =P

The love for going fast aside, I dislike junctions, having to brake (it just brings a halt to the speed!) and roundabouts. (And that thing they call a clutch *mutters mutters*)

Driving has definitely opened my eyes, and made me a more understanding person. For instance, now I understand why mum always says, "How is it possible to maintain the speed at 70 km/h??!! That's hardly driving!"

=P

In Choir.

After we were done "mimemamomu-ing" and "weareweareweare-ing" to warm up our vocals, Sarah gave us a break. Then Esther, standing in the middle of the semi-circle, sauntered over to me. I wondered what she was going to say.

Esther : Wow wow.
May : ...?
Esther : When I don't have anything to say, I make noises.

ESTHER LING IS...Aiyah, you know I know lah. xD

SO CUTE!

In church.

May : Hey!
Esther Ling : Yo, what's up, dawg.
May : Dog?!
Esther Ling : It's just a figure of speech.
May : You mean, bitch.
Esther Ling : Nononono, that's different.

xD

Esther Ling is sooooooooooooo cute. =D
